Every night I fall asleep snuggled up with my bean by my side, and the cat t my feet, on nights my husbands off either Bean or I, or both are snuggled up with him also. It works for us. I'm not weaning her in anyway, weaning is 100% her choice, I'm following her lead. That means she's still nursing through the night. Luckily, we have a nice little routine down so we both sleep well and I've never once felt exhausted, not even when she was a newborn. Usually she will wake up, we swap positions, and we both immediately fall back to sleep while she nurses.
Last night was different. Twice last night she woke up, sat up and looked around the dark room with a concerned, semi-perplexed expression. I would then rub her back and tell her it's okay, and she would crawl back over to me to go back to sleep. Each time I was ready, boob out, for us to fall back to sleep as we normally do. However, both times last night she put her head on my should, and had it tucked underneath my chin. Then she snuggled in with her arm across my chest and we fell back to sleep without her nursing! She hasn't even been a year old for a week and she's already grown up so much.
Such a sweet moment that I look forward to having more of in the future. It's also a memory I will treasure forever.
