Homemade Success!!

So this morning I decided to have some fun sensory play with the Bean. Y'all know how much I love sensory play! In a pinterest post, you can read here, I linked to a ideas for sensory play. So I was browsing the blog post for that pin this morning and it came down to making play dough or goop. Play dough sounded cleaner so that's what I went with.

Here's the link to the original post, she has all sorts of play dough recipes. Seriously a recipe for every occasion! Halloween, Coffee, Cinnamon and ginger play dough for fall. Amazing! Make, Do & Friend.

This was so easy to make! I wrote down and followed the recipe from Make, Do & Friend exactly. It worked great! After I mixed it all together I scooped it out onto wax paper to knead it, this is what it looked like.

After it was kneaded for five minutes, I divide the dough in half, so I could dye it two colors. I pushed my finger into the halves to creat a crevice and dumped some food coloring in it.

Then I pinched the well closed around the dye and started kneading the color into it. It went through fairly quickly and I didn't get stained with any dye! Which is amazing because my pastry pale skin sucks up any color for food coloring, markers, pens, paint, whatever else you can think of, like it's a tattoo. Ink takes forever to go away on my skin, even with dawn. Annoying. Anyways, I made two colors; greens and yellow. Here's how it looked half way through mixing the color in.

I rolled the two doughs into smaller hand sized balls for Bean to manipulate easier, since she was unsure of the texture at first. She just kept poking them, and then trying to shake the play dough ball off her finger. Eventually she got over it and started throwing them on the ground, and smashing, and even tried to share it with our cat.
